As
originally constructed, the second story of this
Spanish Renaissance home provided only a small master
bedroom and an even smaller second bedroom. The upper
level was enlarged to create a new master bath /
dressing room on one side of the master bedroom,
and a new sitting room on the opposite side. The
new additions were held back from the front plane
of the house to respect the original form of the house
as well as to provide new exterior terraces. Exterior
stucco and roof tiles were carefully matched to the
original for a unified appearance. The end result
is a house with not only more space and functionality,
but much more attractive proportions.
The photo below shows the home before
the addition was completed.
