Custom home architects restore historic Tudor style interior. This
beautiful English Tudor home was originally constructed
in the early 1900's in Denver’s Country Club
neighborhood. Unfortunately, the interior of the home
had been remodeled in a very unsympathetic way during
the 1980's, removing most of the original Tudor interior
detailing.
We were requested by our clients to remodel the
home to restore the interior to its original Tudor
charm, while modifying the floor plan to work with
their space requirements. The original architect’s
plans were obtained from the Denver Public Library
which gave us valuable information upon which to
base our design.
A curved marble staircase which had been added in
the ‘80's was replaced with a wood paneled
stair much like the original one, with Tudor style
newels and balusters. A false ceiling and french
appliques were removed from the Living Room ceiling
to reveal the original wood beams and purlins. Tudor
style trim and doors were installed throughout the
house. We specially designed a custom vine-patterned
plaster ceiling for the Dining Room in response to
our client’s request. Decorative
wooden trusses and a new bar were added to the high
ceilinged billiards room. Knotty alder paneling and
custom cabinetry enhance the den. |
